What is your current job in Stockholm? How long did it take you to find this job?

I work with project management in an engineering consulting firm. I moved to Sweden in September and I got the offer in January.

What do you like best about your job?

I am currently working on a very interesting project to extend the blue line (Underground Public Transport) from Kungsträdgården to Nacka and Söderort. It’s not always that you have a subway line being built, so I am very happy to have the chance to participate in this one.

Did SDCN help you in your job search?

“SDCN helped me to “tune in” my CV to Swedish viewers. My CV was tailored for the US, where you have a very different approach than here.”

Yes! SDCN helped me to “tune in” my CV to Swedish viewers. My CV was tailored for the US, where you have a very different approach than here. It was also very important to meet new people and network. I still hang out with friends I made during SDCN activities. The Swedish classes were also very helpful, and the entire staff was very supportive. It made me feel that I had support in case I needed help.

In my opinion, the SDCN team does an amazing job, many thanks to SDCN for helping me with my CV and for being so supportive when listening to my complaints in the career support group! You made a big difference!

What advice would you give to other SDCN members looking for employment in Stockholm?

Reach out to people! Only sending CVs and applying for positions is not very efficient if you don’t follow up with the responsible for these positions (there is a reason why they put the person’s contact on the description). Give them a call, show interest, and communicate.
