  • What is your current job in Stockholm?

I currently have two jobs: one as a language coach and another as a “lärarvikarie”.

  • How long did it take you to find this job?

About a year and a half.

  • What do you like best about your job?

The fact that both are in my field of studies (languages and education).

  • What is it about your job that you are passionate about?

Just the fact that they are in my field of studies and provide me with relevant experience.

“SDCN helped me above all with enduring this long period of unemployment.”

  • Did SDCN help you in your job search? How?

I got my two jobs thanks to Stockholm University. SDCN helped me above all with enduring this long period of unemployment, belonging to a community, making friends and enjoying life. SDCN also allowed me to improve my Swedish through Sprakcafé!

“You should definitely invest extra time and energy on your Swedish and consider complementing your current education”

  • What advice would you give to other SDCN members looking for employment in Stockholm?

Surround yourself with people you enjoy, nurture hobbies, be as realistic as possible and keep your feet on the ground all the time. Do not create high expectations to avoid frustration, and do not allow yourself to gloom all alone, especially during the long winter. Go out, meet new people, discover new stuff, have fun!  You should definitely invest extra time and energy on your Swedish and consider complementing your current education with something else here in Sweden or even starting a new education. You may also talk to as many different studievägledare as possible and if you go to a university, try to often check the flyers on their walls. Many job and education opportunities for highly educated people are announced this way. I got my two jobs precisely this way, through announcements on the walls of Stockholm University. Lycka till!
