Project Description

Welcome, Melis!

Welcome, Melis!

Join us in extending a warm welcome to Melis Aktas, who takes over as the President of the SDCN Management Team. Melis is from Australia, and has a background in psychology and intercultural relationships. She also worked as a language teacher in Italy for three years, prior to shifting to Stockholm in September 2020, when she almost immediately joined SDCN as a member of the Management Team.

Melis resonates with the experiences that partners go through, while shifting to an unfamiliar country. She appreciates the alleviative role  that SDCN plays in easing this process, and is therefore excited at this opportunity to give back to the network – ‘Relocating to another country as a trailing partner can leave one feeling isolated in an unfamiliar environment without an established network, often contemplating their left-behind careers while their partners are excelling in theirs. The SDCN team really steps in and holds your hand during this journey by helping you integrate smoothly into Swedish society. They give you an opportunity to form a social and professional network, improve your job searching skills and discover new exciting work prospects; all while making great friendships along the way. I am delighted to take over the presidency of SDCN from Samantha Goos, now one of SDCN’s successful alumni, who has found an exciting new position as a Marketing Specialist. I look forward to contributing my skills and positive Aussie spirit to help every member accomplish their goals while feeling supported.’

We wish Melis the best of luck, and look forward to having her at the helm, with her positive energy and enthusiasm guiding SDCN.
