Lucia Språkcafé / Last Språkcafé of the Year!

Last Språkcafé of the Year!

Come practice listening and talking in Swedish with a special Lucia-themed Språkcafé.

The 13th of december has been a special day for Swedes long before the country’s conversion to Christianity. Many myths have existed about the evening of this day: some would say that this is the darkest day of the year, and even at this period of time animals could speak and that it was then extra-important to stay awake all night to protect oneself from ghosts and trolls. Today this holiday takes a catholic name, Lucia, and it is celebrated in many countries alongside Sweden, notably in the rest of Scandinavia, Germany and even in Sicily.

This Thursday, 13th of December, at the usual time of our weekly Sprakcafé, 13:00-16:00, join us in discovering this ancient Swedish holiday! We will learn all about how it is celebrated nowadays (with loads of Swedish vocabulary in between, of course!) and have a lot of “mys” together! Vi ses!

As always, we promise to take it easy on the beginners while challenging the more advanced speakers.
