Spring 2021 Kick-Off!

Do you have questions about living and working in Stockholm? Maybe you have been here for a while, but the city hasn’t really ‘clicked’ with you. Or perhaps, you have just arrived in Stockholm and are unsure about how to start going about networking, learning Swedish and kickstarting your career here. These are the usual issues that we address here at SDCN on an ongoing basis, but the annual SDCN Spring Kick-off is a good place to start!

At the SDCN Spring Kick-Off, our panel of experienced SDCN members who have been in your shoes, will share their own stories of what it was like for them to be newcomers in Stockholm, how they settled down, and how they overcame social and professional bottlenecks to find work and make friends.

At the Spring Kick-Off, you will get a chance to:

  • Get an introduction to SDCN – who we are and what we do
  • Learn from experienced SDCN members on how they overcame the challenges of integrating into Swedish social and professional life
  • Ask questions about how things work in Sweden
  • Meet and connect with other SDCN members

Event outline:

  • Introduction to SDCN
  • Panel discussion with experienced SDCN members
  • Open Q&A session on topics that you would like to know more about

Panelists:

Samantha Goos // Dutch Marketing Specialist
Samantha was born and raised in the Netherlands, but she’s lived and worked in England, France, Australia, and the United States – chasing her a passion for culture, whilst remotely working as a freelance editor, copywriter, and marketing consultant. In November 2019, Samantha relocated from New York to Stockholm due to her husband’s career. Currently hired as a Dutch Marketing Specialist, Samantha has a proven track record in online marketing, copywriting, SEO optimization and B2C publishing, plus possesses in-depth project management experience and organizational skills.

Frithjof Stöppler // Educator in Project Management
Frithjof is a strategist and project manager who supports organisations in shaping and implementing their strategy and organisational development. He has a diverse experience from both the private and the public sector in IT, Human Resources, academic research, and academic management. A strong communicator, he has also been freelancing as a translator for over 10 years. Frithjof holds a BA and MA in International Business Studies from Paderborn University and he is working as an Educator in Project Management at Stockholm University.

Namrata Namda // Product Marketing Manager
Namrata is a communications & finance professional with over ten years of experience in B2B product marketing and investment writing, specialising in marketing of complex products and services. She loves analysing markets and economic data, and is adept at creating jargon-free content. She’s lived in South Africa, the UK, France and now Sweden. After moving to Stockholm in 2020 and joining SDCN, she got a job shortly as a Product Marketing Manager.

Danielle Dubay-Betters // Owner of Pie To The People bakery
Danielle is originally from the US and moved to Stockholm with her partner in 2019. Danielle studied studio art before getting a degree in fashion design, going on to work in wearable medical technology and then in marketing. After becoming unsatisfied with her career path in Sweden, frustrated with the difficulty in establishing a fulfilling life as an expat, and turning often to the comfortable challenge of baking, she quit her job in marketing and set up what she cheerfully calls a “micro bakery” on the second floor of an old building in Stockholm. It’s a small operation, but one completely committed to the simple joy of a great pie.

The Kick-off will be held online on Zoom. A link to the Zoom meeting will be sent to you closer to the event.
