A great first year for SDCN!

A great first year for SDCN!

Dear SDCN members, affiliates, and management team volunteers,

What an exciting first year! When we started out in March, we had big expectations for our expat partner network, and as the year ends, we are thrilled by how much the results have exceeded our expectations!

Our network grew to more than a hundred members as we welcomed both new affiliated organisations and a new strategic partner. We held no fewer than seven career workshops and six social events with professional speakers. We offered four ten-session Swedish courses and four advanced language practice meetings, had six evening fika get togethers, organized fifteen Career Support Group meetings and met with more than twenty members for personalized Guidance Hours. Did you notice that we also launched a new SDCN website?

As this first year is coming to a close, it is of course time to say a few words of thanks. First, to SDCN members: Thank you all so much for joining our events, showing your interest, joining activities, and supporting our work with your valuable feedback! Many thanks to Stockholm Academic Forum (Staf) – our founding organisation – for their material support as well as their skillful guidance. Big thanks to our SDCN volunteer management team members for establishing solid foundations for SDCN’s future and for continuing to contribute as alumni. It has been a great pleasure to see so many passionate people come together to discuss, improve, and implement new ideas. And, of course, how exciting it’s been to see so many SDCN members advance their careers in Stockholm!

For 2018 we are planning a great many events and activities so register soon – places may be limited! We also have several open positions on our volunteer management team if you have the time and interest to contribute even more to the network.

Finally, as we are looking to further expand SDCN by attracting both new affiliate organisations and new members, we count on you, SDCN members, to spread the word and share your SDCN experience with your personal and professional networks.

We look forward to seeing you all in 2018. Until then, we wish you festive and relaxing holidays and a great start to the New Year: God jul och gott nytt år!
