2021 SDCN Spring Kick-off!

2021 SDCN Spring Kick-off!

Stockholm Dual Career Network (SDCN) flagged off a new year and the beginning of the spring semester with the Spring Kick-off 2021. The event, which was held online, saw the participation of both familiar faces and a lot of enthusiastic new ones! After Sophia Wallin (Senior Strategist, Stockholm Academic Forum) gave a brief introduction to SDCN, Melis Aktas (President, SDCN Management Team) started the discussion session with our four panelists (Frithjof Stöppler, Samantha Goos, Danielle Dubay-Betters and Namrata Nanda).

The panelists shared their own stories of the challenges that they initially experienced after moving to Stockholm, and the constructive role SDCN played in helping them negotiate through these uncharted waters. The discussion then went on to the importance of keeping a positive frame of mind and how they found motivation, how they went about job searching and the application process, their suggestions for adapting one’s cover letter and résumé for the Swedish market, how it was crucial to keep one’s channels and possibilities open, and how they sought out networking opportunities to connect with the job market.

The discussion was followed by a Q&A session where the panelists answered various questions that the members had. The event concluded with conversations over break-out rooms, where the participants got to know each other a little better.

A big round of applause to our panelists and all our members who came together to make the 2021 Spring Kick-off such an engaging affair! If the break-out rooms were anything to go by, there are lots of conversations we are looking forward to! And there will be plenty of opportunities to do exactly that – starting this Friday (22 January)! Take a look at our Event calendar, Instagram, and Facebook page. We’ve got an exciting spring and summer coming up!
