Spring & Easter at SDCN

In Sweden, Easter is celebrated a bit different from Easter in other countries. Children in Sweden dress up like Easters Hags and go knocking on the doors to ask for candy. In the past, people believed that the witches flew to Blåkulla (Blue Hill) to meet with the Devil on Skärtorsdagen (Maundy Thursday). Nowadays, this story is part of the culture.

Despite this difference in culture, coloured eggs remain a part of the celebration too.

Join us for our Easter Celebration event at Staf to have a great time with other SDCN members and to know more about the Swedish way of celebrating Easter! We’ll be providing fika!

Maria Fogelström Kylberg, Managing Director at Stockholm Academic Forum, will give a presentation on the Swedish spring and Valborg, a tradition celebrated all over Sweden by lighting fires in order to welcome spring.

All partners and children are welcome!
