SDCN Spring 2023 Kick-Off!

Do you have questions about living and working in Stockholm? Maybe you have been here for a while, but the city hasn’t really ‘clicked’ with you. Or perhaps, you have just arrived in Stockholm and are unsure about how to start going about networking, learning Swedish and kickstarting your career here. These are the usual issues that we address here at SDCN on an ongoing basis, but the annual SDCN Spring Kick-Off is a good place to start!

At the SDCN Spring Kick-Off, our panel of experienced SDCN members who have been in your shoes, will share their own stories of what it was like for them to be newcomers in Stockholm, how they settled down, and how they overcame social and professional bottlenecks to find work and make friends.

At the Spring Kick-Off, you will get a chance to:

  • Get an introduction to SDCN – who we are and what we do
  • Learn from experienced SDCN members on how they overcame the challenges of integrating into Swedish social and professional life
  • Ask questions about how things work in Sweden
  • Meet and connect with other SDCN members

Event outline:

  • Introduction to SDCN
  • Panel discussion with experienced SDCN members
  • Open Q&A session on topics that you would like to know more about

Panelists:

Puck Imants comes from the Netherlands and has lived in Australia for three years before moving to Stockholm in May 2019. She has a bachelor’s degree in Artificial Intelligence and a master’s degree in Applied Cognitive Psychology.

In the past ten years she worked as a behavioral researcher and as a human factors engineer consulting for (semi-) government and private sector in the field of mobility and traffic safety. Moving to Stockholm inspired a career change and she is now a data scientist at Telia. In her free time she loves being outside in nature, hiking or riding one of her bicycles.

Magda Tuset moved to Stockholm from Spain in April 2021, following her partner and using this opportunity to add some excitement to her personal and professional life. She has a degree in Tourism and a Master in Psychology and worked as an HR Assistant / Office coordinator.

She is now employed as an Administrator at Lernia Bemanning, where she is enthusiastically immersing herself in a new professional experience. In her free time she loves to join events to meet other new members, learn Swedish and do little gardening as a hobby. Nowadays she is so thankful to SDCN to give her the skills to be able to settle down in this beautiful city.

Tauri Viil comes from Estonia and moved to Stockholm in January 2020, right before the pandemic. He holds an MSc degree in mathematics as well as mathematics education and has worked as a mathematics teacher in middle school.

In Stockholm he decided to narrow his field down to data science and last summer graduated from Stockholm University in Decision Analysis and Data Science. He is now working at Nordea where he is a data analyst in fraud.

In his free time, Tauri enjoys reading and running. SDCN helped boost his confidence and optimism to tackle the Stockholm job market.
