Unleash Your Inner Photographer: A Summer Cyanotype Workshop in the Park

Embark on a summer adventure of creativity and exploration as we embark on a cyanotype workshop amidst the vibrant greenery of a local park.

Join us on June 9 as we transform ordinary leaves and flowers into captivating photographic masterpieces using the age-old cyanotype process.

Under the guidance of SDCN member, Neela, you’ll discover the magic of cyanotype, a photographic printing method that produces stunning blue prints. We’ll gather fresh leaves and flowers from the park, arranging them delicately on sensitized paper to capture their intricate details.

To add a personal touch, you can also bring a favorite photograph, which we’ll scan and create a negative for. This allows you to integrate your digital images into the cyanotype process, creating unique and personalized prints.

Each participant will have the opportunity to create up to two prints, experimenting with both floral arrangements and personal photographs. As we expose the sensitized paper to the sun’s rays, a mesmerizing transformation will occur, revealing the delicate outlines of our chosen subjects against a rich, Prussian blue backdrop.

This workshop is perfect for individuals of all ages, from curious kids to photography enthusiasts. Children will enjoy hands-on experimentation and the satisfaction of creating their own artwork. Adults can delve into the history and techniques of cyanotype, while also exploring the creative possibilities of the medium.

All you need to bring is your enthusiasm and curiosity. We’ll provide all the necessary materials, including sensitized paper, chemicals, and safe handling instructions. Please note there will be a small cost to cover the materials.

Come join us for a summer afternoon filled with creativity, collaboration, and the joy of capturing nature’s beauty. We look forward to welcoming you to this enchanting cyanotype workshop, where art and nature intertwine. Let’s create lasting memories amidst the vibrant greenery of the park, transforming leaves and photographs into timeless cyanotype masterpieces.

More details will be sent to those who register.

This is a community event organized by the SDCN Management Team, and you are very welcome to bring your partner and/or family along!
