Headhunt Your Own Dream Job

Headhunt Your Own Dream Job

Career success means different things for different people, however defining your career development plan is the first step towards headhunting your dream job. Understanding the hidden job market, having a good networking strategy and knowing “What do employers want?”- are tools to finding the key and unlocking the path to the Swedish job market!!

On 5th December, Dr Tina Persson, a Global Academic Career Coach, trained SDCN members in a three-hour seminar on how to develop a job search strategy.  She advised that the first step is to investigate yourself, know your competence, train for a persuasive elevator pitch and invest in learning Swedish. Next step is to design a networking strategy and connect to key people at meetups and social events. She gave essential tips on using social media to find jobs and build new connections. She also trained our members to identify a weakness and convert it to a positive skill set useful for working efficiently in a team and how to recognise a transferable skill from things that we do in our free time. Finally, she advised our members to be patient, build trust and slowly integrate in the society to find the key to headhunt their own dream job.
