LinkedIn training session with recruitment specialists from Klarna

LinkedIn training session with recruitment specialists from Klarna

On October 23rd, members of SDCN got an insight into the perspective of recruiters at a training session on optimising one’s LinkedIn profile, administered by a recruitment team from Klarna.. The session began with the members introducing themselves, their professional/academic backgrounds, and establishing their expectations from this event.

This was followed by the speaker, Rita Azevedo, emphasising upon the primacy of engaging with LinkedIn to look for jobs, especially in Sweden. Jobseekers can use LinkedIn not only to seek out and apply for jobs, but also have an opportunity to showcase themselves and their talents, apart from interacting with the medium in various ways.

The discussion proceeded to the importance of a professional profile picture, accurate keywords, a concise headline, and a brief, yet non-generic and compelling summary in the first person, along with five key skills in order to grab the attention of potential recruiters. Rita also identified a few dos and don’ts to create an engaging profile and gave some tips to increase one’s visibility on LinkedIn such as – initiating conversations with one’s connections, interacting with the connections’ recent activities by ‘liking’, sharing or commenting on their posts, asking for and giving recommendations to one’s present/former colleagues and sharing updates or interesting content of one’s own.

The session concluded with SDCN members implementing these pointers and working on updating their LinkedIn profiles and clarifying any doubts with the Klarna team. There was also a little photography corner set up, where several members got professional photographs of themselves clicked to be used as their profile pictures on LinkedIn.

The members of SDCN have an exhaustive list of actionables now, that they can apply to their profiles to make the most out of the professional opportunities provided by LinkedIn. We extend our gratitude to Klarna for such an engaging and useful session!
